Hunters for the Hungry passed out certificates of appreciation to local Ruritan Clubs on January 29, 2014 at the Ruritan Rapidan District‘s Annual Presidents and Secretaries meeting and dinner held at the East Orange Ruritan Club’s building in Unionville, VA. Ruritan National Director Sarah Kelly passed out the awards, as a token of appreciation to the local Ruritan Clubs that had donated money to their charity.
The Jefferson VA Ruritan Club’s President and Secretary were absent from the meeting, so the award was given to the District’s Lt. Governor, Linda Bradshaw for safekeeping, with the understanding that the certificate will be delivered to the club in the near future.
The Jefferson Ruritans held the final Turkey Shoot of the season despite cold, rain, and mud on January 10, 2014 at the Jeffersonton Community Center. A large turnout of competitors made the last Turkey Shoot one of the most profitable Turkey Shoots for the Ruritan club this season, selling 199 targets. The concession stand sold out of food, and the competition was called off early due to muddy conditions on the shooting range.
The second, and last raffle prize, a Rossi .410 youth shotgun, provided by Cedar Mountain Armory of Culpeper, was awarded at the end of the competition.
