Prom PROMise awards held for Culpeper County High School

Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office has encouraged Eastern View and Culpeper County High School students to behave responsibly before, during, and after prom and to be alcohol- and drug-free on prom night, and students who signed the “my 2015 PROMise” pledge to do so were entered into a raffle at their respective schools to win a free limousine for prom night courtesy of Sheriff Scott Jenkins and CCSO.

At the May 7 CCHS prom assembly, SRO Sergeant Joe Curtis spoke about the “my PROMise” initiative, Sheriff Jenkins introduced a video of the EVHS mock crash, and the guest speaker was Mrs. Kim McKiernan, who started a local MADD chapter that meets in Rappahannock County and includes Culpeper.

CCHS student Dalton McKinley won a night in a stretch Hummer limousine with 15 of his friends.

Remaining “my PROMise” signers were entered into a second drawing after prom to win an iPad, and Sheriff Jenkins presented the iPad to Jairen Washington, also a CCHS student, on Thursday, May 14, 2015.

CCSO reports there were no student-involved alcohol or drug offenses on EVHS prom night, April 25-26, or CCHS prom night, May 9-10.

This prom season Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office has encouraged students from Eastern View and Culpeper County High Schools to sign the “my 2015 PROMise” to behave responsibly before, during, and after prom and to be alcohol- and drug-free on prom night.

Students who signed the pledge were entered into a raffle to win a free limousine for prom night courtesy of Sheriff Scott Jenkins and CCSO. EVHS student Madison Sites won a night in a stretch Hummer limousine with 17 of her friends.

Others who signed the pledge were entered into a second drawing after prom to win an iPad. Sheriff Jenkins presented the iPad to Macy Hooper, also an EVHS student, on Monday, April 27, 2015.

The Sheriff’s Office will be raffling another limousine and iPad to CCHS “my PROMise” signers for their May 9 prom.
