Culpeper Halloween celebrations with Sgt. Berry and unidentified children 2013
Press release from the Culpeper Police Department:
The Culpeper Police Department will be on the streets and in neighborhoods on Halloween Night, Friday, October 31st, to help ensure that children and their families stay safe as they head out for ‘trick or treating’ and other community events planned for the evening.
As a reminder, children can trick-or-treat if they are under the age of 13 and can trick-or-treat up until 9:00pm.
“Officers will focus and concentrate their patrols in high density neighborhoods where pedestrian foot traffic and vehicular traffic are the greatest concern for the safety of our children” said Culpeper Police Chief Chris Jenkins.
Halloween festivities will begin with the annual Downtown Merchant annual Trick-or-Treat from 5:00pm – 6:00pm on E. Davis Street. The 100 block and 200 block of East Davis Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 4:00pm until 7:00pm or when pedestrian traffic has cleared the area.
The Culpeper Police Department has partnered again with Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. handing out glow stick necklaces to the first 1,500 kids to help provide children with safety illumination for the night. The Culpeper County Sherriff’s deputies will also be at the event handing out candy. Officers will also be at the intersections of Davis Street and Main Street along with Davis Street and East Street to assist families across the busy intersections.
Area churches will once again be hosting a fun night of activities throughout the Town of Culpeper.
The Culpeper Baptist Church will be holding its annual Fall Festival event from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Officers will be assigned to this event to ensure pedestrian safety in the area, namely assisting children across Blue Ridge Avenue into the event.
