Press release by Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office:

Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office will hold its second annual Police Week 5K Run/Walk Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 9 AM at the Three Flags subdivision.

97 runners and walkers participated in last year’s race, which raised about $1200 for the Virginia Public Safety Memorial Foundation to help with dedication events and perpetual maintenance expenses for the Commonwealth Public Safety Memorial, where fallen law enforcement officers, including Constable Benjamin M. Nalls and Deputy George R. Lillard Jr. of Culpeper, are honored.

There will be a welcome ceremony at 8:30 AM at the community center (12340 Osprey Lane, Culpeper). Trophies will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, and the top female and male finishers in the six age groups- 15 and under, 16-20, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over- will receive awards. Ribbons will be awarded to all children participating.

The entry fee is $25 for participants who pre-register online (www.culpepersheriffsoffice.com) by Friday, May 15; race day registration is $30 and runs from 7:30 to 8:30 AM at the community center. All proceeds will benefit the Culpeper Sheriff’s Charitable Fund and the CCSO Chief’s Memorial Scholarship.

Law Enforcement vs. Teachers Youth Sports Benefit 2014

Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office will hold its third annual Law Enforcement vs. Teachers Youth Sports Benefit Game Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 7:30 pm at Eastern View High School.

The teachers won the 2013 and 2014 games, and Culpeper’s law enforcement will be looking to break their streak in this year’s friendly basketball game that supports summer football, soccer, and baseball/softball camps coached by CCSO employees for local children aged five to 16. The goal of the camps is to teach our local youth skills for on the field and off, with an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.

This year’s opening act will be a CCHS versus EVHS game at 6 pm. Alex Caruso performs the National Anthem at 7.

Student admission is $3; adult admission is $5; children under five and children who wear their Culpeper Sheriff’s Youth Sports Camp t-shirt from previous years get free admission. All proceeds benefit the CCSO Youth Sports Camps.
