Press Release from Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office:
Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office has encouraged Eastern View and Culpeper County High School students to behave responsibly before, during, and after prom and to be alcohol- and drug-free on prom night, and students who signed the “my 2015 PROMise” pledge to do so were entered into a raffle at their respective schools to win a free limousine for prom night courtesy of Sheriff Scott Jenkins and CCSO.
At the May 7 CCHS prom assembly, SRO Sergeant Joe Curtis spoke about the “my PROMise” initiative, Sheriff Jenkins introduced a video of the EVHS mock crash, and the guest speaker was Mrs. Kim McKiernan, who started a local MADD chapter that meets in Rappahannock County and includes Culpeper.
CCHS student Dalton McKinley won a night in a stretch Hummer limousine with 15 of his friends.
Remaining “my PROMise” signers were entered into a second drawing after prom to win an iPad, and Sheriff Jenkins presented the iPad to Jairen Washington, also a CCHS student, on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
CCSO reports there were no student-involved alcohol or drug offenses on EVHS prom night, April 25-26, or CCHS prom night, May 9-10.
